So, I thought I would start a thread where people can post their favorite Banding and weight Loss books. I really liked "Weight Loss Surgery with the Adjustable Gastric Band" by Robert Sewell. Tell me your favorite!

"Weight Loss Surgery with the Adjustable Gastric Band" This is one of the books that I have been thinking about getting. What do you like about it? I have looked in all the book stores near me and they all say that I have to order it that they don't keep it in the stores. I like to thumb through a book before I buy it and make sure that it is what I want. I don't wnat a cookbook though. Some recipes would be great, but I want much more than that. Do you think that this book would fit what I am looking for?

I ordered it on Amazon. I think you can preview books on there. I like that it gives real people examples in every chapter. It really gives you strategies to get through things. Also, they summarize the strategies in a list at the end of each chapter. Like, one chapter has ways to get rid of head hunger. I feel that this book is the first one that I've read that is truly practical and not just what I would call a lecture.

The owner's manual. The book that comes with the band, inside the box....the one the surgeon is supposed to give you.

This book tells you EXACTLY what the procedure is, how it's performed....tells you EXACTLY what the recommendations are for adjustments - when to fill, when to not fill.

I love it. Was the only book I needed and it was FREE.

My son and his financee gave me "Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies" for Christmas. She had even gone through and put sticky notes on certain pages. What a great support group! The book was very easy to follow and gave lots of tips from before surgery, through and years after.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
