26 days post-op and not losing...

Recommended Posts

We're all in the same boat - I was banded on the 19th Dec - I lost about 16lbs pre-surgery and then lost 7 afterwards.... then nothing - for about a week - all the way through the full liquid phase. I'm finally now on my pureed food stage, and things seem to have started moving again. I've lost 2 lbs in the last couple of days.

I think it's helping that I'm walking every single day - I'm up to about 3 miles. I think as soon as I'm on the real food, it will get even better so that I can fill up on lettuce and stuff.

Anyways - good luck to everyone on this... I think the more we watch what we eat and exercise - we'll do well.

True weight loss is so hard to track when you are monitoring it everyday. I find that when I am doing that it depresses me. Try once a week, this is a true indicator of the weight you are losing. Water weight, Constipation and other factors are too variable to try and weigh yourself everyday.

You will find that it seems like you are not losing...then one day you get on the scale and BAM you have lost. Hang in there guys...this is not going to be a fast process. It is a slow miracle. In the meantime, enjoy every day of your life and be happy!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
