What does it feel like to get food stuck?

Recommended Posts

I think you would be ok with mushy foods...yogurt, pudding, cottage cheese. I think this stage helps get you used to the texture things should be when you swallow regular food (if that makes sence).

I am 4 weeks out and I still have trouble eating some foods (probably more mental than anything). I havent had steak, bread, Pasta or anything like that.

I am so thankful to have had the opportunity to read all of your responses and suggestions. Although I was banded 9/8/08 and have lost weight (40/50 lbs) I had a back injury and could not exercise so I regained about 17 lbs. I recently had a fill and for the first time since being banded, I have restriction and so I am on the way to losing again. I have noticed burping and the being "stuck" feeling for the very first time since banding and it is uncomfortable. This happens when I try to eat solid foods; I can only have Soup right now and soft, steamed fish. That's about all I can tolerate. I thought something was wrong until I read your posts. Now I know to take it easy; stick with very soft foods and look forward to losing mega weight!

I have food get stuck on a regular basis. Believe me, you will know for sure when it happens. There will be no mistaking it. In the mornings I can barely eat anything, not even oatmeal without some pain. Most foods I have to cut into tiny pieces and chew chew chew and quite often still have severe pain. I do not know if this is normal or not. I am going on a cruise the end of Jan and am concerned that I will not be able to eat anything. I am going to try to take instant oatmeal in my suitcase for emergency foods.

I am in pain but still not loosing any weight.

Check my post about Anyone feeling discomfort in their throat? I describe how eating has been for me. I got 1/2 cc taken out and I can eat so much easier now. I stopped losing weight because I got so frustrated trying to eat Protein, ate a little, then satisfied my hunger with junk food that slides down easily.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
