Countdown to your Bandiversary!

Recommended Posts

Wow, I can't believe I am nearly seven weeks out from my first Bandiversary. I also can't believe how much I've struggled for the last four months!

I was doing so good for so long.. I was really kicking butt, then something snapped inside me and I can't really put my finger on it. Complacency? Scared? Uninterested? AADD? Cockiness? Maybe a little of all those things combined... but the fact is I need to make a change right here and right freakin now!

I had surgery for goodness sake! I don't regret it.. no not at all -- even though I have gained some weight back. Yes, I am at good restriction too. It's me and I know it. I'm not making the right choices. Why lie? If I do I'll just keep going down the same road.

So right here and right now I am openly going to set a goal in front of all my Vicotorious Valentines and claim I will lose one pound per week leading up to my Bandiversary date of February 11th, 2009.

I was all the way down to 227 for awhile then the "snapped" happened. So now I just need to "SNAP OUT OF IT!!!"

As of this morning I was back up to 253. So I claim now that if I lose the minimum (so I have less chance of failing and giving up) of one pound per week, on February 11th, 2009 - I will weigh 245. So that is my goal weight for my Bandiversary.

No I am not going to hog up the spotlight here either. If you would like to set a goal for yourself for your Bandiversary, join me! I need all the company I can get.

Sheeah... and thanks for listening. LOL

Great idea and great attitude ... this is a journey and every step counts.

My goal is to be down a 100 pounds by my anniversary. That will be a stretch, but is doable.

I will strive to lose 10 pounds in the next 9 weeks. This will be a REAL S_T_R_E_T_C_H as not only have I stopped losing, I started gaining.....and it is all my fault. I have no one or nothing to blame but myself.

So maybe this is the time to make the commitment. Thanks LilMiss for starting the thread. Feel free to give me virtual kick-in-the-pants when I start to slide or mope.

I'm not gonna make a pound related goal for two reasons - can't decide what would be realistic and when I do, I sabotage myself and fail. So instead I will vow to get back to healthy eating, to get my calories intake back in line at about 1200 or less calories a day. That should let the pounds take care of themself. I also vow to get back to my daily exercise routine. It has really slipped and I have no excuse. I am on leave from work for 3 weeks and I have plenty of time for exercise now.

Yay! Love this thread. It's the optimism and group morale I need. Thank you all.

Hey ladies! Great goals -- all of them! Whatever motivates us I say... and I really need that right now.

I have also decided to go back to school (again) and this will really help to keep the food out of my mouth. Can't crunch and munch away in class, so that is two nights out of the week preventing me from doing that. Good deal!

I did make a deal with myself Ezma that I really need to get the exercise back too. I set my alarm for 3:30am every day. Now, before you say "yeah, right!" let me tell you I already get up every morning at 3:50am - so that's only twenty minutes earlier. I'm going to do my treadmill before getting ready for work. It will really get my metabolism going for the day, and especially since I've slacked on my power walks because it's waaay too cold outside right now.

I am also going to make up a list of approved foods. I am going to stick by it to a T!! :w00t: NO MORE SNEAKING ICE CREAM AND CHIPS!! Those evil demons keep haunting me... and I'm being a good little bandster right now as I drink my V8 and eat my banana.< /strong>

Take care all! Let's hear it from some more... where are you Valentines????

Lil Miss, hang in there, Hon. You're on the right track. Sorry for what you've been through with the last four months. I know how hard it must be. You're stronger than this. We all are. We chose this amazing path and fighting it is only going to bring frustration.

Reading your post makes me thankful to still be losing. It's slow, very slow, but I'm grateful that it's not going up or even staying completely still.

My goal has been to be 100 pounds down by Christmas or New Year's at the latest. I'm two pounds away from that, so it's completely doable. By my bandiversary which is February 8th, I would like to be under 200 and in the Overweight category.

My exercise is the only thing that's keeping me on track right now. Well, that's not entirely true. I've been making good food choices a lot of the time. I'm still sneaking in chocolate and sweets way more than I think I should, but I'm hanging in there.

I plan on enjoying the holidays and having some of my favorite treats. I will never completely let go and forget about my weight and the band, but it's the biggest holiday of the year for me and food is part of the celebration. I plan on participating fully and also on working hard to not let it derail me for long.

For my exercise, I'm running 5K 3 times a week and doing an exercise video on the alternating three days. I take Sunday off. I'm very pleased with having been able to get to this point with exercise. It's one of my strong points right now. It's bitter cold so we just joined the local sports club and I go there and use their treadmill. (Don't have one of my own yet.) I really look forward to being able to run outside. I really prefer that.

I'm so glad for you wonderful people and your motivation and support. We can do this. We are strong. We are amazing.

Hey Shiny you are doing so great! Keep it up and never let anything distract you from your goal and you will get there. Slow is better so never get frustrated either.

I find that I have to do a little exercise of some type every single day to keep me motivated. Even taking a "day off" tends to lead to two or three or longer. That and weighing myself. If I don't do that I get easily distracted and I fall off course.

I'm going to do this, I'm not worried, I just feel bad that I allowed myself to fall off the wagon - but I'm climbing back on and it's moving too!

Hi LilMiss & VV's MyBandiversary is the 12th so I am also looking at this past yr. and the hope for the year to come. Last year I was so sick and not able to do so many things that I can now do. I can tie my shoes, with the bow on the top. I can sit in a booth at a restrurant. I wear regular size clothes. I am going on a cruise in Jan. to Australia and New Zealand. Iwant to remember that I still must eat the way I have been taught. Iwill fly for the first time in years without a seatbelt extender. My prayers for the New Year are that I join in the support that has freely been given to me, and the journey takes you where you want to go. One more step out of my safety zone. Audrey

LilMiss and all the other VVs;

I have been at a complete and utter standstill for 6 weeks now. I am scheduled for my third fill on 1/6/09 and can't wait. My bandivsary in 2/27 and I was so hoping for 100, but don't think so. That would make me just overweight and out of this obese category.

I think that starting 1/29/08 I am going to do a 10 day liquid diet just like I did last year (just as a test to see if I could do it pre-op). I think I will do this every 1/1, but am going to start early this year to see if I can make my goal and keep the band in the front of my brain for a while!!

Good luck all and Happy New Year.

Hey New Year... no worries. I went through a really long bad spell. I'm finally breaking free from that! I've been waking up really early to make sure I'm doing my 5k at least 5 times per week, doing 30 Minutes of my Stationary Bike 5 times per week, Calisthenics 3 times per week and doing my best to eat good foods.

Still not perfect on the eating thing but hey.. who is?

Well just hang in there. It will happen...

I've lost 2.4 Lbs. last week. Not bad! 1.4 Lbs more than I said I would. I'm going to change my goal every single week to make sure I'm losing at least one pound per week, so now my Bandiversary goal is to weigh 242.6 Lbs.

Yay me! LOL

Hi Ready & VV's, Give Yourself a big hug for each and every lb. lost. Ready for you that is 66 hugs. WOW!!! A swift kick only hurts but whatever motivation you need for today's work I pray it is granted to you. I made it through Xmas and now have the New Year and a cruise to get through before I have done a full year with this little band. Our journey continues. Audrey

I can do this. My date is 2/07. I have been playing with a few pounds for the last month or two. My goal is to lose 5 pounds by that date. That is do-able. Right.

I tell myself that I am going to start going back to the gym, and I hate going, and I know that is the only way to jump start this.......

5 pounds....5 weeks.....I can do this. I can do this. I will do this.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
