Hey,

Well as of last weekend I had my last meeting with the psychologist. Which made me very happy, I was so not happy to be awakened out of my sleep @ 9am by my lousy alarm clock reminging me that I have an appt.

Why does it seem like it is taking forever, for this to be over with. I want to get the band and get on with a healthier lifestyle, I even had my PCP call me in a Rx for Chantix, so I can hopefully quit smoking by the time I have my surgery.

I so hope they approve it, they shouln'nt deny me because I have a BMI of 42 and comorbidities. I am glad to see that everyone is on their way to becoming healthier, but it seems like it is going to take me a while to even get started. It is killing me every day that my phone does not ring.

To add more on top of it, I have another insurance that is now primary which is ANTHEM, and my second is TRICARE. Can anyone explain to me why it is traking so long?

I can't say why it is taking so long, only that it does. It looks like the average time for someone using insurance for surgery is 4-6 months of waiting and jumping through hoops.

Hi Tameka, I started my journey at the end of april and I am being banded this friday 12/19. They say it can take up to a year to be banded. So for me it took 8 months so almost a year. Patience is something I am not great on but I sure learned that I had to do what they wanted me to do. six dietician visits my psyche eval, my physicals, blood work , ekg's etc etc... takes time it will happen just keep positive

It does take a long time. I started this journey officially in January 2008. And was banded in November 2008. I am just thankful to have great insurance, which paid 100% of the procedure. It does take a long time, but it is so worth the wait!

Hang in there. Your turn will be here before you know it.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
