:)I CAN't BELIEVE IT!!!!!!!

Tomorrow I become and official Bandster!!!!

I feel like I'm holding my breath. Everything is coming in on me at once. All the emotion all the worries.

I sit here writing to you feeling my stomach hit my thighs. My chest expands they keep my my arms spread, my whole body is something that i have come to not be comfortable in yet, yet............. there is a part of me that wants to talk myself out of it.

Now all my questions are hitting me. Will i be ok with the anesthesia, did i loose enough, will they cancel the surgery, can i handle the food restriction for 2 weeks, will i loose my commitment, will every continue to be supportive???

Oh boy, there is so much more but i just can't list them all.

Today will be tough. The sceptic part of me is truelly reveling itself.

I know there are many who have or are in this position but i feel kind of alone.

I don't want to disappoint anyone or myself.

I'm getting to jump!!!!!!! I'ts my leap into a unknown future along with leap of faith i never thought i'd face.

Boy this is maddening.

Well, everryone on this pre-surgical day i guess i'm done giving lip service and take some action on this whole subject.

Wish me luck, you thoughts, prayers, and advice makes it easier!!!

See you all on the other side!!!!!!!

Micki

Micki,

Your nervous jitters are common for all of us. I kept saying "And I volunteered for this". I am glad my surgery is over. Went like clockwork. The two weeks of liquids was easy for me. I did three Protein drinks a day trying to get in at least 60 grams of Protein in. Towards the end I could only do 2 but that was O.K. I did not mind at all, in fact I was amazed that i could be satisfied with only liquids. I feel wonderful now. It's been almost 3 weeks. You will do wonderful also. Good luck. Let us know how you are doing. We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers.

HORRRRRRRRRRAYYYYYYY For MICKI!!!!!!!!!!!!! You'll do great- I too was very scared & nervous & wondering what the heck I got myself into. I remember posting the day before just like you! Now looking back & thinking what I was feeling when reading everyone elses posts I realize they all were telling me the truth! Not that I didn't think they were- just that it truely wasn't a big deal & that I would be happy when it was all done. You'll be so excited after & ready to commit to your new life- I am almost 2 months out & am finding a new found way of eating & feeling more determined to be healthy!

Post us as soon as your able- Be strong- it will all work out perfectly!!!

Tomorrow is my day also and feel anxious and excited both. From all I've read here and having 2 friends who went thru it , I know I can also and will be happier. I keep thinking I will eat again. I have been on liquids for 2 weeks already. Keep us posted as to how it goes for you. Sounds like gas is biggest problem we will face. GOOD LUCK!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
