Nauseau

Recommended Posts

I'm on day 6 after being banded. Periodically I get a little nauseaus or dizzy and then it passes. Earlier I got a little bit of a sour taste in my mouth.. then it passed after a bit.

It's random and not really tied to what I've drank or eaten. I know that the band is empty. I saw the liquid pass through on the swallow as well.

I am terrified of vomiting because my biggest fear is slippage/erosion. Anyone who was recently banded experiencing anything like this?

Your doctor should have given you nausea medication. I needed them off and on for about two weeks. See if you can get some, I don't remember the name brand but I got some tiny cherry flavor pills that disolve on your tongue. He should have also given you a script for antacid, mine are also tiny pills (Pantaprazole). I still carry those with me for rare bouts of reflux.

Hi Beth,

I wouldn't worry to much about the nausea. It will pass as time goes on. If it's a little more then you can handle do call your doctor to get some medication to help the nausea ease. It's really nothing to be alarmed about at all as it's a natural part of the healing process. Everyone is slightly different so we all heal a little different and have slightly different side affects. Unfortunately your having the nausea sensations. Best of luck with this and like I said before call your doc if you want some meds to help you get past this.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
