Hello to all, its been a while since I have posted. And I think that not being on here has led me astray. Let me say that I have struggled with food over the past few months. I do train excessively. I run around 90 miles a month, and just yesterday completed my third half marathon. It was my personal best time of 1:58:07, which placed me 322 out of 1000 runners. Not bad for someone who weighed in 243. I kept an 8:30 pace per mile which is strong. My cardio is impecable, which it should be running 4 miles a day for the past year and 8 months. Anyway, I am going to see my doctor next month as I feel as though my restriction is gone. is it normal for it to do so after almost two years? I hope not. I feel as though I can eat a lot. However i am cheating, ie. ice cream, mexican foods, etc. I have strayed away from following the rules, ie. Proteins first and veggies second. It seems as though I keep away from the foods that fill me up quick. I am posting this as a way of "coming clean" and admitting that I am not perfect. I just need you guys to slap me upside my head and tell me that I need to focus. I have another half marathon in Jan. and one in Feb. so I need to get back down to 210. In that shape I should shave off another 10 minutes or so, and look and feel better. Any words of encouragement would be appreciated. Good to be back on the boards that helped me through so much.

First and foremost, congrats on building such a great exercise program and on completing three half marathons!

I have read that your restriction can change over time even if you don't get fills/unfills. It can be caused by tons of things - losing weight, gaining weight, stress, exercise, dehydration, etc.

That's part of why I chose the band over the bypass. I wanted the ability to adjust down the road if I started having problems.

As for your diet...your needs may be a little different than most band patients based on the amount of exercise you do. You might want to talk to a nutritionist, preferably one who works with athletes AND band patients. Your situation is somewhat unique...I don't know a lot of band patients who are running half marathons on a regular basis.

I'm curious to hear about how the appointment goes...so keep us in the loop! :blushing:

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
