Hi everyone! My name is P.J.. I live in yakima, wa and I was banded 5 yrs ago by Dr. Sanchez in MX. I was almost to goal and re gained my weight. Now to this day I am 10 pounds over what I was going in for my banding. I didnt know that over time I would need a fill. I thought once you get filled you'r good to go. I guess nothing is that easy. I was not given much info on bands ether. So instead of sitting on the couch and not caring about myself I have desided to do something to is good for me. That would be to get a fill. I am sooooo freaked out about needles but I am gonna put on my big girl pants and deal with it! :frown: I am a mom of 5 kids. 3 or my bio kids and 2 are my bonus kids from my husband, kevin. They are 2 boys ( 13 yrs & 12yrs) 3 girls ( 13yrs, 11yrs and 9yrs) 3 of our kids are special needs, so we have our hands full. I guess thats it. I would love meeting you all and learning as much as I can and hope to build some friendships as well. :)

Welcome to LapBandTalk! It's good to hear from people who were banded a long time ago.

Hey confused, welcome to LBT! Don't worry about the fills. With any luck you have a doc that can hit the port easily. I've had 4 fills, and all but one I literally couldn't tell when he stuck the needle in. Good luck to you.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
