What are the Holiday Hotties doing for exercise?

Recommended Posts

Since surgery I’ve been walking around the home and yesterday we went to a park to walk around a lake for a about a mile walk. Today I attempted to do an exercise DVD, Walk away the lbs to be exact and did a quick 20mins workout that left me sweating but not overdoing it. After im a week post op I’ll see if I can work out a bit more vigorously but for now as long as im sweatin im countin it! Lol

So what is everyone else doing? Maybe others can get suggestions as this is a integral part to our success stories!

Brave lady!

I have been walking around the parking lot and my house. I had surgery the 11th.

I'm not sure that I am up to a long walk yet. I get out of breath still but I walk as much as possible.

I ordered a bunch of bellydance fitness dvds that my daughter and I are going to do together and I plan to continue to push myself on longer walks. I just want to give myself until thursday so i have a full week of recovery.

I ordered them from here: http://www.worlddancenewyork.com/catalog.php?catid=7 I used to bellydance years and years ago and it was really fun.

Cheers!

First off my surgeon said to keep the vigerous exercise down for the first month to give the incisions time to heal. To much twisting etc etc and you can pull the incisions loose and further damage yourself.

With that said I have been out walking every day. 20 to 30 minutes at a time. The great part too is that my wife is right there with me. We come home from work, change clothes, and then head right out for our walk. It's great because we support each other in getting more fitness into our daily habits. In January after my stomach has had time to heal then I will add more exercising to my routine. Today in fact my wife and I started talking about what we could add. With our 14 month old we would like to add something that we could actually do together at home so we're not trying to coordinate being away from the house. She has some exercise videos that I am going to look at and probably do with her. In addition I will probably start adding some strength building exercises like push ups, sit ups, crunches, etc etc. That's my initial plan.

OMG belly dancing sounds like fun! But I would definitely wait till I was 100% healed wouldn’t want a stitch to pop while shimmying LOL:blushing:

I definitely plan on waiting awhile :)

My stepdad just drove me to starbucks and cvs and just that much walking made me dizzy for some reason. Then I got afraid I'd end up puking my band out. lol

Might take it easy a few more days with just short walks around the house.

Not much exercise for me right now - just a couple of "laps" around the living room/kitchen area every hour or so. Trying to just keep my legs moving a bit to avoid those blood clots!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
