HELP!...still having upset stomach and diahrea!

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I was banded 2 weeks and 2 days ago. I have horrible stomach cramps and diahrea ALL the time! every 1/2 hr I am running to the washroom. :scared2:I can't do anything! Christmas shopping is out of the question, and I am becoming so misrable! :tongue2:

I had my 2 week follow up appt. on Friday, and the nurse said my diahrea was normal. But it can't be. not this bad! and now today I noticed a small amount of blood in my diahrea! I am going to call my doctor in the morning.

Any one else suffered from this? any suggestion's?

I would definitely call your doctor and insist on being seen... also I would insist on a stool culture to rule out Cdiff. It can cause the miserable symptoms your having. Keep your self hydrated!!!!

Thanks Tess!

I caled my surgeon's office this morning and the RN said she did'nt think it was band or surgery related so she pretty much brushed me off and said I probably had caught a virus. She also told me to take some imodium. So I am and if I don't feel better tomorrow then I will go see my regular doctor. If it is this CDIFF virus, does antibiotics cure it?

hey Tess, I just noticed you are an RN? I forgot to mention that there is alot of mucous in my diarrhea, and sometimes when I feel the need to "pass wind" it is mucous that comes out. any other suggestion's? thanks a bunch for any input!

It really does sound suspicious of cdiff... yes it can be jelly like mucous and foul smelling. Word of caution, if it is cdiff you shouldn't take immodium, not good to keep infectious stuff inside. It usually responds to the right antibiotics. If left untreated could lead to infective colitis. I would call your PCP and just check it be safe. Just can be ruled out with a stool culture... we see alot of it in the hospital. Take Care!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
