Fills - AM or PM?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone noticed a difference in how successful their fill is depending on if they get it in the morning or late afternoon? My doctor only does fills on Monday afternoons or Tuesday mornings. I scheduled my first fill in the morning - due to my work schedule but then I started thinking, I wonder if you get more restriction on an empty stomach vs. a full stomach.

I think we go to the same doctor!! Funny enough, I, too, hate having to schedule fills because I wonder the same thing. I do whatever works in the schedule usually, but feel more comfortable with the Monday afternoons because I've then had a half day of eating solids before being on liquids only for 48 hours......though, I usually weigh less in the morning, and I love to have lost weight when I visit.

I am tighter in the morning, so I prefer the afternoons because I get a better sense of how I'll truly feel after the fill, whereas the mornings are a challenge to get/keep food down regularly.

I'll be curious to see what others say....

I have only had one fill and that was at 12:15 pm last week, so I am not sure about a difference, between morning or afternoon fills

All I know, is that in the morning I am more restricted than any other time during the day.

I will have eaten Breakfast before my fill so my stomach won't be totally empty.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
