Tight after fill - HELP

Recommended Posts

I had a fill the other day and in the office liquids were going down at a good flow - it did not appear to be too tight. After getting home though I feel like everything is tighter - is this just the tissue around the band reacting to the fill? I don't think I have anything stuck because I still feel Fluid passing through the band but extremely slow. Has this happened to anyone else? Will it just relax after a few days?

Maybe you're a bit swollen from the fill.

I can leave a fill appointment and go straight out to lunch and eat. DH has to baby his through with a day or two of liquids and mushies. Perhaps that applies to you too.

The thing is, with a fill, if its tight but you can still drink liquids and eat fairly well, then in all probability, you will loose weight and it will loosen off. And you also adjust at each stage along the way to what you can eat and how fast you can eat it. But it still is a shock when your ability changes in one single day.

I think if you feel any side effects like reflux/heartburn, night coughing, difficulty getting liquids down or pbing and sliming that cant be honestly attributed to eating a bit too fast or just learning that you cant eat this or that now, then if it were me I'd take a tad back out. YOu dont need to live in discomfort to lose weight. But if its just really tight and you have no other problems, then you can probably afford to stick it out, enjoy the weight loss and enjoy the inevetible relief when it loosens. Which could as you say be in a few days time when the swelling (if any) goes down.

Its really up to you and what you can tolerate.

Yes, I have had that problem since my last fill on Halloween, October 31, 2008.

I saw my doctor last Friday and she said she wants me to see her again in two weeks to see if I need another fill. I have been having problems keeping food down despite the fact that I eat slow, chew, chew and chew and eat very small amounts.

Hopefully, with a few more pounds gone, I will be ready for a fill when I see her next week. I have heard some people need to be "un-filled." Maybe you need to consider that? I have been considering that but I lost 7 pounds in 5 weeks and having a tighter fill makes that possible. Its a fine line between being tight and loose. Its called the "sweet spot." I guess that is where we want to be able to lose weight and still be able to eat.

I really don't know but I'm guessing that perhaps its because that area gets a bit irritated with the added restriction with the added Fluid into the band.

I usually go on liquids the first day and I'm back to regular eating but smaller amounts the next day (depending on the amount of fill). I know when I had my bad un-filled by 1 cc I could drink and eat more right away.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
