Burping does no harm and some people experience a lot of burping after surgery...some like me hiccup alot. It is normal and harmless.

PB'ing is when you burp and undigested food comes up. That is the kind of burping you need to worry about. That happens when you eat too fast, eat too much or do not chew well so continuing such bad habits could cause problems with the band.

Thank you so much. I know the PBing is bad, but I occasionally still burp and I hiccup a lot. Some are very strong hiccups, but nothing life threatening. I just try to relax and wait for the spasm to pass. I thought I was alone. Thank you for makeing me feel normal. Debbie

My hiccups are really deep and hard. I use them as guage, when I hiccup I have had enough to eat. I have not been able to burp since surgery though others say they burp a lot more.

I have pb'd once... ouch! I was eating, and my son came up behind me and smacked me on the back, causing me to prematurely swollow my food. OUCH that hurt. I checked with my dr and it's ok, because I have done fine since, but he had me go on liquids for 24 hours to make sure.

Ok, it's official ... I did something incredibly silly that I've read about a ton of times here on the board, but I figured I'd share and request a little advice.

Shortly after taking my birth control pill about 10pm, I ate something small (otherwise I get nauseous) and for some reason, I picked cold chicken, which has a reputation of getting stuck. And for the first time after 3 months of surgery and 6 ccs in a Realize Band, I PB'd this chicken (luckily I was home alone b/c it probably would've scared my boyfriend half to death ...) and now I feel a little unsettled .... do I need to go on liquids tomorrow?

I can call the doctor's office tomorrow too, but I'm just wondering if anyone's been advised on this ...

Thanks much!

liquids for 2 days then mushies for 2 days, to reduce the swelling that pb'ing will cause. I don't always follow that though.

I saw several people here mention this so I asked my doctor and he said that he didn't see any reason to do this unless you feel like you are unable to eat solids, in that case he said I should really come see him.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
