early persistent plateau

Recommended Posts

Hi

I was banded Aug. 18 2008. I lost 38 pounds between the pre-op liquid diet and the first month post op. I had my first fill Sept 17, I wasnt even on solids yet! As soon as I started solids, I gained 2 pounds and then stabilised and have lost NOTHING since. No loss, no gain.

I am so discouraged. I had another cc added today just to help out. Dr. wants me to drop to 600 cals per day.

I just wonder if anyone else has had this problem. two plus months of diligence with nothing to show for it...:)

I was banded 11/11 and lost 9lbs during my two weeks pre-op (liquid diet) and then dropped 7 more and stayed there for two weeks after my surgery. Last week I decided to try boosting my Protein intake and guess what...... I am down a total of 21 lbs now. It sure worked for me! Good luck and hang in there.... it will come off, just gotta be patient sometimes. Oh yea, I have nothing in my band yet. Told my Dr. today that I don't think I need a fill yet. Hmmmmmmmmmm, silly I guess?

This sounds very similar to me. I went from 272 at surgery to 255 two months post op. I've gained and lost the same 5 pounds several times in the past few months. I think I'm on track now, I've seen some baggyness in my clothes, but not much movement on the scale, only the same 5 pounds again. The only difference is I'm now walking 6 days a week for at least 20 minutes, and counting my Protein. Make sure the calories you are taking in are quality protein, then veggies. Too few calories and your body says I'm starved and holds onto every little bit it can, and 600 is way to low, (all due respect to your MD). Try a new approach in the interim and see what happens. Good luck

I was banded on 10/08/08 I was 249 pre-opp and 239 Band date. Today I am 223lbs. I've hit a platue for 2 months where I go from 222 to 228 I just had my 3rd fill and I am now 6cc's on a 7cc band. I now feel good restriction and never feel hungry, but you must get your Protein in. Be patient and keep the faith and PRAY it will happen. You didn't put it on over nite

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
