Need help finding a good surgeon in California

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone. I am new to the group and it looks so informative! I am very interested in the lap band but I live in California near Sacramento. Does anyone know of a good place to go in the area. I could even travel near to San Francisco if need be.

I really feel this surgery could help me. My daughter has had 22 surgeries and through it all I have put on so much weight that I just can't get off!! I would really appreciate any info you can give me.

Thanks, Heather

Hello! I highly recommend Dr. Machado with Sacramento Bariatric: Sacramento Bariatric Medical Associates

She is very approachable, supportive, and an excellent surgeon. Her staff is great, too, and Sac Bariatric is a Center of Excellence. They have a very comprehensive program that includes support groups and lots of follow-up care. Dr. Machado made me feel very comfortable and confident about the surgery. I moved away from CA, but I can always e-mail Dr. Machado, and she responds right away! She is the best! Good luck!

Hello I heard great things about Dr. Machado too in Sacramento. However, she is not part of my insurance plan. I live in Stockton and went to the Alta Bates Bariatric Center in Oakland, which is a Center for Excellence. Doctor Kim is my doctor and she is great!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
