Kaiser Richmond Pre-op

Recommended Posts

Jess is sitting in her comfy pre-op recliner about now. Go Jess it's your Band Day!

I feel so much better today. I am on Protein Drinks today and will ease back into softs tomorrow. The scale was back down to 207 today.

Nicole - I take a generic Tylenol PM a couple of times a week and I have found it doesn't work as well after a while - maybe our body gets used to it? But I am afraid to take two as I don't want to not wake up in the morning.

Can't wait to see everyone on the 26th.

How you doing today Candra? Take advantage of the time off and rest, rest, rest.

I'd better do some work.

Morning all,

Go Jes - this will be great!

I'm good today - PORT IS SO FLIPPIN SORE! I truly can't believe how much it hurts - Heather, I'm so glad Doc Fisher got all the gas out too - I was a little worried about that gas pain on top of the port pain and incisions stinging but... Only port pain!

WHEN CAN I SHOWER? Can't bend over to get my binder LOL. Really want to freshen up but afraid the shower will sting in the incision areas but I also want to keep them clean so they don't get infected - I swear Im such a wimp! Riley - gonna try the tylenol - got a whole bottle of liquid lortab up for auction... any takers LOL. that stuff is the worst! But Really, snakes hahahaha.

Jes should be alomost out. hope they don't find any hernias in her too!!

Candra I remember being able to shower after 48 hours, so you should be able to take one this morning! Enjoy it! :)

Candra - Yes they can get wet but do not wipe them with a rag and do not use soap on them. You can wash around them and then just let the Water run on it.

Another pound down last night girls!!! I am now 11 lbs down in 11 days!!!! I am so excited I am sooo close to where I was when I gained that last bit of weight with all my band complications! I only have 3.5 more lbs to go to be at my absolute lowest weight since 1994!!!!:tt1:

And only 11.4 pounds until I get down in the 200's!!!!! I can't wait!!!

No soap, i remember chris put syran wrap over her incision:) Way more careful then i was... I just let Water run.. BuT remember something.. mine decided to start bleeding afterwards.. hers didnt. Dr baggs said it had nothing to do with my shower, but just a statistic... The port pain will be for a while...:tt1: I remember complaining to dr baggs.. and he said thats why we go in 6 weeks after the port pain is normally gone by then:D

Thanks ladies, really think I'll feel better after a shower - maybe I will wrap them!

April, how exciting for you! Down in the 200's is a great step after being on that plateau for so so long. Did I mention that I weighed in on surgery day at 201 - oops! too many splurges LOL

I never wrapped my incisions - I just let Water run over them and patted them dry with the towel after the shower and I never had any problems.

I think I am having empathy port pain with you Candra - the big bruise I have from yesterday is causing me pain by my port while I am sitting at my desk.

Candra - That's okay though....you are on your way down on the scale now! There's no turning back now. (Don't get me wrong it is still possible to gain a few pounds here and there but for the most part we are more in control of it than we were in the past!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
