I was just banded on 11/26/08 and I am currently on thin liquids for about 10 more days. This is difficult because even though I feel full I AM STILL HUNGRY!. Will I feel this way after my first fill or is this mind over matter I must battle with for now on? can't wait to move onto thicker liquids at least.

You'll feel a little better when you are on more solid food. Your first fill will at the very least help a little. It may take a few fills before you reach good restriction though.

This period of time after surgery...all the way up until you find your 'sweet spot' with fills/adjustments is called "Bandster Hell". It is going to be a long process, but will be well worth it. Stay strong:thumbup:. I am in it with ya!

AngieAngel is right. You are in bandster hell (the time between surgery and good restriction). You will have to use whatever will power you have and also make good food choices. I know it is hard (I am still struggling with that one myself), but we have to remember that this is a process. Use this time to work on your eating habits and to practice the bandster rules (taking small bites, chewing, etc). Keep coming here for support because we have all either been there or are there. Either way, we can be here for each other.

I noticed when I was about where you are the "full on top, hungry on the bottom" thing....where I could feel my "pouch" was full but the bottom of my stomach wanted food.

It gets better as the swelling goes down and begins to feel more like a normal "full" feeling. Hang in there.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
