the dreaded in between....

Recommended Posts

I'm at the ucky stage...I'm in between surgery and my first fill and i'm just frustrated :)

I'm six weeks out this week and I'm just feeling blue. I dropped 20 lbs fast and then it stopped. I've put five pounds back on and am feeling sad about that. I know its because I have no restriction.

I'm visiting my mom right now who is going through chemo, I'm trying to get a dr. to give me a fill where she lives but haven't had any luck since I don't permanently live here. I haven't seen my husband in three weeks and won't see him for another three. We're moving across country and it's just been a stressful summer

anyway just feeling blue and wanted to complain. Thanks for listening. :)

Hey ruthie,,

i think you and I were banded on the same day or somewhere near there. I was banded JUNE 9. I got my first fill yesterday and already I feel a difference. You have lost more than I have,.,,I have lost 17..so FEEL GOOD about that.

Look forward to getting home and getting a fill. I can imagine the situation with your mom is terribly hard. That alone..is enough to get you down hearted.

Please..do your best to keep your chin up. I think we all have heard,..and experienced the dead area...pree fill..post op. I have gotten down also..so I know where you are about the weight loss battle.

We are all here for you..and always here to listen...YOU WILL BE OK!! We will get this weight OFF!!

Ruthie,

Sorry to hear things are going pretty rough right now. Don't worry about how quickly your losing weight. It is not a race.

I had my second fill today. I am losing weight rapidly, but have allready had plateaus. The best thing you can do right now is enjoy being where you are. Try to enjoy your mom's company, relax, and take comfort in knowing that by Christmas you will have made some serious progress.

Your awesome Ruthie, just keep your head up.

-Chunk

Hang in there, Ruthie...I just finished a 5 month hospitalization with my mom. I was away from my family for 3 weeks, and it seemed like forever...but I agree with Chunk. Enjoy eing there for your mother now and eat as healthily as you can. Keep your eyes on the big picture, long term. This is a big old speedbump, and we're bound to run into them here and there. It's how you navigate them that makes the difference.

((((hug)))) Cindy

Hi!

Thanks so much for your words of encouragement on my post. I feel better this morning. I should know better then to post late at night when I'm feeling down.

Anyway I think I'm mostly stressed about my mom. Thanks for your words of encouragement!

I appreciate it!

Glad you are feeling a bit better today. Concentrate on your mom. The beauty of the band is it will be there when you are ready. You have it. It isn't going anywhere. Do your best but don't beat yourself up. You are under more stress than you sometimes think! I'm proud of you. I know your mom appreciates just your being there for her. You are doing a great thing and it's worth this little bump in the road. ((((hugs)))))) for you AND your mom!!

Ruthie,

Just appreciate the time and don't rush it. I was banded 2 weeks before you and got my first fill yesterday. I was going out of country and worried about the food situation. I have been plateaued for a month so I have also been bumming out. But - I only gained about 2 pounds for all of the bad food choices I made and now I have a fill. It took us a long time to get in this situation so we need to have the patience to get out of it slowly.

But go ahead and post at night. I know when I've been bummed and posted the responses brighten my day/night.

Celeste

awwwe... (((hugs)) Ruthie!

Dont ever feel bad for "unloading" on us. Thats what were here for :).

And WOW! 6 weeks and a total loss of 15 pounds? is that right? heck you are about 3 pounds ahead of most of us. Just about everyone I know has lost 12 pounds in the post surgery/pre fill phase.

Dont worry about this band right now. Sounds like you have lots of other "irons in the fire".

The weight will come off. I promise!

Okay, I'm in that ucky in between time too. My dr won't do a fill until six weeks out (I notice other folks here got fills sooner). So I'm waiting waiting waiting and eating WAY too much.

Had my first post op visit today and the dr is super happy with the progress but he agrees I need a fill...I just have to wait......:tap tap tap tap:

Sigh.

Besides, you've got a LOT on your plate right now. This is NOT the time to get down on yourself. Just do what you can do. The band will still be there if you gain a couple! You can always get back on track!

Big bandster hugs!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
