Fill the port?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone. I was just banded on Monday and was wondering if it is normal to feel the port inside of you. It feels wierd!

I was wondering if I too was the only one with this problem .lol. It does feel weird and I am told by friends who have had this that it is totally normal.

I feel mine sticking out and it drives me crazy, but I am sure it will get better as the weight comes of.

Good luck hunny.

I am 5 months out and mine has only become more noticable to me at least. It is a lot better than the fat though.

I've been banded just over a year, the more I lose the more I can feel the port. The only time it bothers me is when the cat decides to walk on it:wink2:

oh yeah . . . I can totally feel my port. And it sucks when the dog or my children jump on me while I'm laying down -- other than that, no problems!

I was banded the 24th, and I can feel my port and see it if I pull my shoulders way, way back. I think it totally depends on where your port is located and which kind you have. I have a low profile Realize band and port, and where he placed it is where the bottom of your bra would be between my breast. So no matter what you can't really see it but I can feel it.

I wonder how a dr decides where he will put the port. Is it the dr that taught him how to do it? Mine is on my left side, under my breast and half way between that and my waist line which I just found out I had.

Love this band!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
