Hi Viv,

Thanks for posting! I just found this website today, and I could really do with a bit of mentoring. I was banded about three years ago, and I haven't done very well.

I was 106 kg pre-band, and I'm now 94. Which after three years is just poor on my part. Unfortuntely, I like all the wrong foods and drinks. I often over-eat and then throw up (which is really embarrasing for a bloke to say :)

I've re-focused and have started another low GI diet (again). I dread to think what weight I would have been without the band, so I'm not at all sorry I have it.

Was your journey a steady weight loss to your goal?

Cheers,

John

I was banded on 4-8-09 and have lost 23 lbs. However I am like any other banded person I am ready for "normal" food again. I can start the full liquids tomorrow and am looking forward to the Malt O Meal. Any suggestions for yummy full liquid foods?

Viv,

We would love to hear about your long term success. I think so many ppl that post are band youngsters. It would be great to hear how you have learned to live with your band and what kind of results you achieved.

Hi Viv, I am from Geelong just out of Melbourne,I had my lapband syrgery 2 years ago and hae lost 20K (88kg down to 66-68kg ) I have been this weight for mths know. I am having problems with tightning of the band and having to vomit food up all the time even though I am very good . Dr has taken all Fluid out , done a gastroscopy and all that stuff and finds no problem. He wants to take out?? I am not happy. Have you had any problems? Jen

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
