Hello Ladies!

I am new to the site, well 3 days new, and currently have my first appointment January 8th. Woo Hoo!

I have been reading your responses and it is such a breath of fresh air to see so many positive people here to help uplift those of us who are struggling or feeling a little discouraged. I know that there are men here too, but there is something so special and empowering about women coming together to give each other encouragement :rolleyes2: I love this site and am looking forward to using it as a tool to help me through the hard times.

I think it is a very very good thing to lose the weight at a slower pace. vs hyperspeed with the Bypass. What is that saying about the tortoise and the hare? I think it is true, slow and steady wins the race. Besides, if the weight is lost too fast, there is a huge chance that the skin will sag and hang and not spring back and look youthful and supple. I have seen the pictures of bypass people vs those who have been banded, and I can see the skin differences. Alot of Bypass patients have excess skin that needs to be removed, especially in the stomach area. With the lap band, your body has more of a chance to adjust to the weighloss. Try not to think of it as a hinderance, but as a blessing in discuise :cursing:

Hi Gina!! I am from PA too - I live in Philly... I was banded at Barix Clinic in Lanhourne, PA - was the easiest thing I had to do....I only regret not doing it sooner! My surgeon is great and the team is awesome! Wishing the best of luck with your pre-surgery diet...hang in there!

Good evening everyone I am new here by a couple of days. I just started 6mo supv diet(hoping I dont change my mind) I am a diabetic type2 and take insulin 2x a day. I been having weigh problems for years, I lose, I gain. My bmi is 37, but because I am diabetic and take meds for high blood press, I am ok'd for lap band surgery. If you look at me you would say I dont need the surgery, but the scale says different.

A funny story when I went to the lap band seminar a large man said you must be here with someone, I said yes my husband who I pointed to and is very thin:-) he smile and said then you both must be here with someone else, I should have felt good about the comment however I know and my dr knows I am over weight. I come to this forum for encouragement, because I struggle with should I or shouldnt I do the surgery. I know if I get loss weight I can come off the insulin and bld press meds. Its nice to read success stories and here words of encouragement. Thanks for eyes and ears

You look great! I hope to be as successful. I had the oppurtunity to view your blog, and it was nice to see the different emotions you have experienced. But, I'm glad I didn't know u when u were experiencing your medical mishaps, cause, I think I would have handcuffed u to a hosp. bed and wheeled u in myself. I can't wait for my surgery. I was given two dates today, no sure which one to choose. Jan. 28th or Feb. 4. I'll decide on friday. I need to make sure my work sched is covered..

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
