I have been pencilled in for surgery?

Recommended Posts

I am not sure if I should be excited or not. I have been pencilled in for surgery January 5th. I have one more appt on Dec 1st. My Nurtion DR said if all goes well I will be signed off for surgery and good to go. (she said that in a matter of fact way) It has been such a long journey I just don't want to get too excited. Any advice? or comments? definetly welcome!

What control over your surgery does your nutritionist have? I met with mine once preop .... so her "clearance" was obtained early on. (I had to voice a desire to change, essentially LOL)

I had to see a nutritionist to monitor my 10% weight loss like 4 or so times. I also have to see a Doctor that specializes in nutrition...she "manages" my case pretty much and is the one to sign off on surgery (she tells the surgeon I am a good candidate and have consistently lost weight). I have meet with her 3x's and have my final on the first of dec. It has been an agonizing process. I just want to say yay I have a date like so many others say. Instead I get to say "i'm pencilled in"

Hey! I was told the same thing. I did all my pre-op, they told me im pencilled in for Dec. 18th, then i recieved mail with all the information, on date of the surgery, days of pre-op meeting, and that i have to get a check up for clearence from my regular primary doc, and have it faxed to them. They say your pencilled in because they are working on the insurance.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
