My port has moved and we know why...

Recommended Posts

I have been feeling wonderful. At 2 months post op, I had the understanding that I could exercise. They never told me to avoid crunches, or sit ups. I tore my port loose doing crunches. It never even hurt, and I'd have not known if I hadn't gone in for a fill.

So I go thursday for another attempt at a fill, and the decision to be made does it get fixed now or after the holidays.

I was informed today... stay away from sit ups, crunches or anything like that for 6 months.

thanks for telling me before hand doc.

My doctor never said anything about avoiding crunches either. I am glad that you posted this info.

My dr never told me that either. Mine flipped, when I went in for my 3rd fill it was flipped over. I havent done crunches but I was riding a stationary bike and that is the only reason we can think that it happened. My dr had never had one to flip. Went in right away and had it repositioned. He said it tore from the muscle in 2 places on the same side so it was allowed to flip.

I spoke to my surgeon today. He said no crunches for 6 months.

My port isn't terribly twisted. It's still usable, and he drew a diagram for the regular fill guy (bob). I got my fill, and my next one is scheduled with the surgeon for December 3rd. So I won't see Bob until at the earliest mid december.

I am so happy I don't need revision surgery already.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
