Motivation (need help)

Recommended Posts

Hi, Does anybody else have problems controlling there eating around that time of the month, actually right before. The doctor wants me to lose some weight before the surgery, I lost 5 pounds but feel like I am losing any motivation that I did have. I have been doing ok not eating all the choc. which I used to live on. Now it seems to be chicken parm.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Okay. I am going to tell it to you straight. Your doctor wants you to lose weight so your liver will be nice and small so he can get to your stomach easier and your waist will be a little thinner so your incision will be smaller and easier to heal. I had me surgery rescheduled three times for various reasons and I had to go on a liquid diet three times. By the third time, I kept on asking myself why I am doing this. Well today, I fit into a size 16 jeans that I have not been able to fit into in two years. and I am steadily losing at a rate of 10 lbs a month. Keep yourself motivated by thinking of how healthy you are going to get and how great you will feel. I know how hard it is but just think of all the success stories you see on this site. You will be a success story to.

Helen

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
