I finally got a date!!!

Recommended Posts

for surgery, that is! It's July 20! Next week!

I have been posting here and there for a while, but I finally got my tests run and my finances together (self-pay sucks!), but I am so excited to finally have an actual date.

I am a teacher and as summer was rushing past me, I was worried about not having any recoup time before facing the little darlings on 8/11. And by the way, isn't that just plain crazy--school starting August 11!!!

Anyway, hopefully I will be feeling well and while I will not have lost the weight that I hoped to have by the start of school, I will be on my way! Now I have to pick a cute ticker and icon!

Doing the happy dance,

Colleen

Best of luck to you! I am a teacher, too, and was thrilled to get everything arranged for surgery on the 22nd...that gives me 2 weeks. We start Aug. 8. I don't mind that start date, as long as we don't lose our breaks at the holidays...that would really stink!

Where is La Porte?

Again, good luck! Cindy

WOW, just 6 days away! Good luck and praying for a speedy recovery!

I am also a teacher (preschool that is) but we are open year round. :) Wish I could get a summer off. I was back to work the following week after surgery with 30 4 year olds!

Thanks for the warm wishes! We go back on the 8th, too. I teach the kids with visual impairments, so I teach at 9 schools plus babies in 2 homes. I used to be a classroom history in several schools: LPJH, Baker 6th grade, and LPHS.

Do you know someone in LPISD? Are you in the Houston area?

Good luck to you, too!!

Colleen

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
