Did I do the right thing?!

Recommended Posts

I'm 2 days post surgical. I feel pretty good, other than the pain in my shoulder from the gas. But, I am worried that I made a bad choice. I read horror stories on this website. Not losing weight, band removed, I can't help but think this was a silly choice of weight loss help. Anyone with positive results let me know.:eek:I am worried.

Hey, your like me, kinda back and forth on the whole thing. Well you made the hardest descsion and that was to help yourself and you followed through with it. now you can look back in the rear view mirror and watch as you change your life. there is no turning back now, its done. I wish i was in the car with you, what i mean is that i dont have my band yet and it seams like one day i am all ready and then the next im thinking i should just buy a treadmill and lose it that way, i wont though, and that is why i must get the band like you because i can feel my life passing and if i wait my best years will run through my fingers and be lost. You did the thing. Don't be scared about your future everything will turn out fine. And thats not to say that everyday will be roses

but you did the right thing.

Hi:

I don't know your personal circumstances, but I can share mine. In April 2007 I weighed 324 pounds and I was exhausted all the time and my feet hurt with every step that I took. I was so tired of being that big. I did a modified weight watchers diet prior to my July 2007 surgery. Since then I've become a new person. I am active. I have more energy than I've had since I was in my 20's (I'm 49 years old now). My feet never hurt. I honestly feel like I'm about 20 years younger. I love my band. I've had a few bumps along the way, but I only have one regret. I wish I'd heard about it sooner so that I could have taken off the excess weight sooner.

This morning I weighed 176. I wear a size 12 and I feel great! I may never hit my goal of 170, but I'm at my goal size.

Try to focus on the positive. Best wishes to you.

Sue

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
