Anyone else battling fatigue?

Recommended Posts

Good Day Friends,

So, I had my surgery on 10-22-08, my first fill is in 2 weeks. The last few weeks, I have been extremely tired and fatigued. My energy level has dropped tremendously. All I can think about is getting into bed. It's hard to focus too.

I am not depressed, but quite happy that I did this. I did give up smoking 1 week before my surgery. I don't know if I am going through nicotine withdrawal or dehydration. I am starting to get headaches in the evening too.

I have a bottle of Water next to me at all times to sip through out the day. Because, a week after surgery I realized I was breaking out. Needed to flush out those toxins. Same thing with the Constipation, I am okay if I drink water and benefiber chewables.< /p>

I plan on sharing this with my doctor next week, but was wondering what all your thoughts were. Any advice?

I have advil liquigels that work for my headaches, but am afraid to take them.

Would love some feedback from you lovely people :D

Thanks!

Rida

Honestly when I quit smoking I QUIT having headaches, but that was years ago. My energy level skyrocketed as I lost that first chunk of weight, and while I was a little shakey a day or two post op, I felt great and quickly recovered. NOT bragging....just I think you maybe should call your doc rather than waiting. Are you diabetic, pre-diabetic, or do you have other endocrine issues? Did you give up caffeine right before surgery? Did you have headaches a lot in the past? Do you need glasses? Hopefully it's just an adjustment period for you; but your doc needs to know you are suffering and struggling. Good luck!

Thanks for your reply Restless Monkey!

You bought up some great points. I actually did call the doctor and am scheduled to go in. I am doing a lot better today. They suggested adding more Protein to my diet.

I never gave up caffeine. Thank God, one vice at a time!

The headaches are new, I am not diabetic or prediabetic, and as far as everything else, I guess I will find out more next week.

Thanks again for sharing your thoughts and sentiments

Good luck! Hopefully (surely!) it will be something minor like stress from adjusting post op or some such! But I'm glad you're going to the doc to make sure! It's hard to ever know what medical "things"are important and which ones aren't! And I hope the additional Protein will help energize you. Are you taking a B-12? My doc has ALL of us (gastric bypass or lap band) taking a sub-lingual B-12 each day; you can take it on an empty stomach etc. You might want to add that into the mix too.

Hello Everyone, thanks so much for sharing this information on fatigue. I was band on 12/18 and I've been tired ever since. Today, 12/5, I'm just really getting my energy back. But I have to pace myself or I'll get tired. I also just want to go to bed, not because I'm sleeping but just simply TIRED. I'm not sick or in pain. I'm not going through any withdrawal. I'm taking Floradix liquid Iron and multi-Vitamins so hopefully this will do the work.

Any other suggestions please let me know. And once again thanks and I hope all is well with everyone.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
