Anyone's 6th month up in Feb????

Recommended Posts

Hey i started Sept 12 and go to my Month 3 Next week, I am excited that i am half way. My only concern is the 6month weight loss program isnt going so well for me, but i still have 3 more months. So next week, i will talk to my doctor and nutritionalist about whats been going on. Anyways i thought it might be good to find other people going the same speed (around month 2-3) and taking the same route (lapband), kind of like a support group. That way we can see how everyone else is doing and their progress, and we will also all pretty much have the same surgery dates.. Who's in???

First off, Im Heather , 25years old mom of a 4 year old boy. From Sacramento California but living in Allentown PA for my husbands job. ... Just thought it might be good to know a lil about me

Hello

my name is susan, i too went in Sept to see the surgeon.

i went at the end of the month so my first 3 appts have already came and went! i go for my 4th Dec 4th. i can't believe its half way over!

i have been getting tests done and seeing the heart/lung doctors. i go this fri the 21st for the stress test. i hope that i can pass that!

i need to loose 8 pounds before surgery to get the bmi down under 50. i have lost about half. i did loose weight before going to see the surgeon - so i guess that helped. but i need to get on the ball as far as walking and watching my diet. i cheated this weekend. i quit smoking 10/1/08 so that was a rough month. but doing much better.

i figure if all goes well i should be done feb/march and maybe by this time next year i won't be in so much back pain and feeling way more energy.

feel free to email me anytime!

Well congrats on quitting smoking, thats got to be very difficult!! But yeah i just went to my month three group appt and should be having surgery around the same time you are. The only thing i am worried about is my weight gain before surgery. I was unaware until i came upon this site that we have to actually LOSE weight before the surgery. I was kinda border line on the diet, so i figured that the only bad thing would be to lose too much weight. Then i justified my eating because i wouldnt be able to eat what i want after the surgery. Needless to say, im up 10 more pounds in the three months. So now after reading the helpful posts about maintaining or losing weight, i know i have to lose that 10 pounds and then some. lol.. im trying to stay focus and not worry too much but just eat healthy. I know i could do it if i could exercise. So im trying to join the gym, there just so freakin expensive. What are you doing to burn calories?? i would love ideas, i just cant go outside too much right now cuz i have a toddler son that shouldnt be out in the cold weather. and btw, thanks for your response

i'm am having trouble moving too. i am in new jersey and its been in the 30's and 40's and being from so. calif i don't like it one bit! getting out walking in it is a drag. i wanted to go to the library and see about finding the richard simmons sweatin to the oldies tapes. some people on here said they were great. my living room is big enough for me to do arobics in - but i tried last night with the on demand videos and it just wasn't appealing at all. i hated it. i think i would do better to just go walk. atleast that way i am focusing on getting somewhere and making my way back, jumping around in the living room for 20-30 minutes seemed to take forever.

is there anyway you can bundle your toddler up then put him in a stroller and throw a blanket over him and go walk for 20 min or so. i use to have to walk to work and drop my 2 yr old off at day care on the way - i made him walk and this was in Northern PA. i would be numb by the time i got to work! i guess thats why i always ended up back in california. the cold is just sooooo cumbersome to me!

but i have learned if its up past 35 its not that bad if you bundle up correctly. i just dont have to hats and scarfs. i have been wanting one of those hats with the flaps over your ears. im going to have to break down and buy one now.

as far as loosing and gaining weight on the 6 month diet my doctor said my insurance will deny me if i gain one pound while on this diet. that kind of threw me for a loop but he wouldn't do the surgery until i get my bmi under 50 so i still had to loose the 8lbs. so i am going to start getting on the ball. i can't afford to screw this up.

i wish i had someone to walk with me. my neighbor is trying to loose weight thru weight watchers but she wont walk on the regular basis. its soooo much better when you have someone to do it with.

Sounds good, I'm in my second month - my third visit is December 4th.

I guess I'm old, lol, I'm 33, I have three kids and I work from home. AND I spend way too much time on my butt!

Sorry it took me so long to get back on here. Where in Cali are you originally from?? It is definatley something to get used to being all the way over here. I am from Sacramento, and miss my home too. But if i never came here, then i might have never known about the surgery. Wow, thank you for telling me about being denied for surgery if you gain even one pound on the supervised diet. I think thats crazy but understand. Have you lost any weight on your diet yet? and if so, how much. I was just trying to compare progress, even though i have pretty much made NONE!! lol But at the group meetings, they don't talk about weight gain during the program. I would have never known until i came upon this site. Well i hope you have a great Thanksgiving!!!!!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
