First of all I would like to say hi to everyone. I have been reading the threads and would like to day congratulations to all of you for loosing the weight.

I had my first consultation today and are booked into the dietician and psyclogist for the 20th of November.

What does the psycologist do and talk about ?

What does the dietician talk about ?

Any help with all this would be appreciated.

Hi Sunshine,

well, the dietitian asks you about your diet history and eating style. They will discuss with you the dietary changes required after surgery and give you some insight into the road ahead.

The psychologist will ask you about your diet history and why you want to lose weight. They are trying to find out if you are mentally ready or suitable for the op. When I was asked, I was honest. I said I wanted to lose weight for health and flexibility, but I also wanted to be more sexy.

Thanks for that. Was getting worried about what would happen. Want to loose the weight for the same reasons as you.

Hope all is going well. I am hoping to get the band at the end of January.

Sunshine,

if the surgeon thinks you are a candidate, then its really just a formality. You will be fine. If your diet history is like mine (can we say yo yo?), then you will pass. It proves you can lose the weight, you just can't keep it off and that's partly what the band is supposed to be for.

Good luck with it all, not long now.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
