I need a fill but don't what to get one

Recommended Posts

I have very little restriction. I got a band on 5/6/08. I have lost about 32lbs and can't seem to lose anymore. The problem is I know I need another fill and can't bring myself to call and make an appointment to get one. It seems that I'm mentally stuck. I can and do eat tremendous amounts of food but have not gained or lost any more weight.

You went as far as posting this, so you're on your way. Just pick up the phone and make the call.

It will get you motivated again. It's like the band is brand new again and it has really helped me.

Make the call, you'll be glad you did.

I know what you mean about fearing a fill. I just got my first fill yesterday. I have been and still am afraid I will get something stuck in my esophagus. I plan to call the doctor's office with any and all problems. Try to stick to safe foods (ones that go down easily) for a few days and gradually expand to other foods - that way you will know what is okay for you to eat. Hang in there. I am in the same situation but I am glad I finally got the fill. I am motivated to lose more weight. Just keep your goals uppermost in your mind. Good luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
