Not losing like I thought I would

Recommended Posts

Hello all, I was banded Aug 21, I have now had one fill.

I don't think I am losing as quickly as most people that were banded around the same time as me. I have lost 22 lbs. I really would have thought it would be more by now. I go Nov 13th for my next fill. Hopefully that one will make a difference.

Does anyone have any suggestion on what I could be doing wrong?

Hi, I am in the same position as you! I was banded on 25th of August and had my first fill on 15th October. I have lost 22Ibs so far but this weight loss was not due to the band fills but instead due to the strict diet I was put on for the surgery and the recovery. To be honest I feel more hungry now than ever which is leaving me disappointed!! I'm due my next fill on 15th November & I am praying that this will work.

Will do. Maybe its normal for us not too lose too much on the first fill. I have a call tomorrow with my dietician. I will query everything with her on why the weight loss has slowed down so I will keep you informed.

Just hang in there I am losing way slower than my sister. But the point is I am losing not gaing or mataing. After one month of being banded I have only lost 11lbs. So just have faith and keep on going.

Don't be discouraged everyone is different and will lose at different paces. I was banded on 8/29/08, I have had 2 fills so far. 9/23 (4.5 cc) & 10/22 (1 cc)and have a total of 5.5 cc's in a 10cc band. I definately felt the restriction with my last fill and am not really hungry like I was before. I too thought that I was hungrier now than before. It will work out just be patient. As of today I have lost 34 pounds and I have't been doing what I need to do like work out and stop my old habits of bad food choices from coming back. I am working on that and will get better as time goes on.

Stay focused and positive!!!!!!!!!

Hi guys, well I went for my second fill last saturday 15th November and was hoping to feel a bit more restriction and I have to say I still feel hungry. I only have a small band which only holds 9cc and to date I have been filled to 5.5cc

The dietician did say that I may need another couple of fills to feel the right restriction. I am not losing any more weight and have been maintaining the same weight for a number of weeks now. I suppose I have to look on the bright side that at least I'm not gaining any weight!!!:)

congrats on your weight loss and maintaining the weight, that's the biggest problem I think is keeping the weight off. I have been banded for almost two years and was hoping to be at goal, but am not.(30LBS.to go) I have only had three fills but did go in last week for a fill and this one is helping, thank goodness. I have lost 4LBS. I am excited. So keep the faith, and really watch what you are eating, those nasty little liquids can just slide right down:) Good luck to ya! and again congrats on your accomplishments.

My doctor told me that the average weight loss is 5-8 lbs a month for the band. If you have lost 22 lbs it sounds like you are on target. I think we would all love to lose it quicker but if we really wanted that we probably would have chosen GB. Hang in there. It will come off if you follow the diet you're supposed to follow and exercise along with it. :(

Ok..... this thread is reality but really makes me nervous :(

I'm scheduled for Nov 26th (1 week from tomorrow!!), but I've

wondered the same thing. I've seen first hand those who have had extreme success with LapBand and then I've also seen first hand those who lose more weight on their pre-op diet then they do after being banded. Whats the deal??

It makes me question my decision..... I hope I'm one that succeeds with it!!

Best Wishes to the rest of ya, I'm SICK of the pre-op diet  LOL - 3 Slim Fast Optima per day & 1 Protein shake... oh and ALL the fat free sugar free Jello my heart can eat

How many calories are you eating every day? Are you exercising/walking more than usual? 5-10 lbs a month is good progress.... I would not worry. It took me about three fills to feel restricted.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
