Hi from Washington!

:) I'm on day three of living with a band - banded 10/30/08. Feeling lots of pressure in my chest and have had a terrible headache for two days - not caffeine withdrawal. Looking forward to moving forward with this journey.

Hi javaseas. I had horrible headaches right after my surgery too - nothing seemed to help. So bad sometimes that they woke me up. They finally went away about a week after surgery. I hope yours go away too. Good luck to you!!! Becky

I just got my band in on 10/29 and have experienced really bad headaches as well. I figure the anesthesia must have something to do with it. I also have had the chest pain, but mainly on the left side which my doctor said will happen and last about 1 week.

Have you been experiencing times where you get really cold?

Take care and I hope you feel well soon.

Oh.. Hope you're feeling better. Washington lady here too. I'm scheduled for surgury 12/9 I'd say make sure to let your Dr know though, can't be too safe. How long prior to surgery did you stop caffeine? I'm a big coffee drinker. No one has told me to stop yet... :rolleyes2:

I am a huge coffee drinker too and I actually started to drink smaller amounts of caffeine each week so I wouldn't have to deal with caffeine headaches. I did drink caffeine up to the day before my surgery. My doctor said to not have caffeine for the first two weeks after surgery and slowly work it back in after that.

My headaches are much better now and the pain in my left shoulder is gone, so I am really happy about that.

Good luck with your surgery on 12/9. Being stuck drinking liquids for two weeks is tough because there isn't much variety but the band is working so I can't complain.

If I can ask, what did he say the pain in your shoulder is from? Just something that comes from the surgery? Glad it's getting better hun.

Really good idea cutting back on the coffee. It's 8:00 pm and I just made an espresso haha. THEN came and read this. I guess I'll start with 1/2 Decaf and 1/ reg coffee. Otherwise just stopping is going to hurt.

C&V, thanks for asking! Today is day 4 post op and yesterday was great, today not so much. Based on the very short bit of experience I have, it appears that doing 20-30 minutes of walking on a slow treadmill may have contributed to me feeling so good yesterday. I really thought the worst was over. I had walked first and second day after the surgery, then yesterday - good day - but didn't walk yesterday and woke up this morning feeling as if I was back on day one again. So...walked today, this afternoon, and have felt better the remainder of the day.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
