How long between your fills

Recommended Posts

I am so agrivated because my first fill didn't touch me and they are making me wait 6 weeks between fills. I didn't have my first fill until 8 weeks post op. How soon after a fill can you go for another? I know it doesn't change anything, just wanted to vent and hear what other dr do.

Wow, ladybug, my doctor says once every 4 weeks. I really do like your doctor's idea of getting you where you need to be in 3 months. It is my 4th month and I'm still not right. I do think doctors are very different and one needs to be assertive to get the adjustments right. I have found it difficult to speak up if I think the band isn't tight enough or is too tight but I think doctors are discovering that the band needs more adjustments than they thought with some people. It is hard to stay motivated when you don't see the results you are hoping for. Good luck to you, I think you made the right decision.

My doc does fills every 6 weeks. That's fine with me. He did say, however, if I REALLY wanted more/faster, he'd do it, but he explained his reasoning and rationale to me and I agreed with him. (He is the doc!)

I had my 1st fill(2ml) last week on Wed which was 7 weeks after surgery and had my 2nd fill(2ml) on Tues. My band holds 9mls. I still have no restriction except that which comes with the surgery itself. I was banded overseas in India so I have to pay for my own fills, but I get most of it back from Medicare (I live in Australia). I think I can get a fill when I need it, I am going to wait two weeks this time to see if the fill kicks in at all.

I have a 10cc band, 2cc's were put in at time of surgery and then I got my first official fill of 1cc at 6 weeks after surgery. My doctor recommends every 4 weeks for fills, but I have been scheduling them for every 3 which he is fine with. I had 1cc for the second fill and .5cc for the last 3, for a total of 5.5cc's. Seems like such a slow process, but I guess there is a method to the madness. I have fill #6 scheduled next week and hopefully it will be another .5cc's and will do the trick, I feel like I'm just about there. My doctor said on average his patients get about 7cc's. So yes, there does seem to be a lot of different approaches.

Hi ... So far i had two fills, i think i now have something between 5 or 6 cc in my band, my doctor is planning another one tomorrow and says then i can go for 3 months without fill ... I hope it works ... i get full fast now but it used to be faster in the beginning ... i guess i have to start looking for the quality also not only the quantity ... I can tell you one thing ... the food you eat in the US is quite fatty, I m leaving today back home and praying i did not gain any weight last week ...

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
