First fill question

Recommended Posts

im up for my first fill in a week. i have an empty 10 cc band and am wondering in general, how many cc's do they put in for the first fill. id rather not have to go back 4-5 times at 1 cc at a time. id rather them be a bit more aggressive than to nickel and dime me to death. i have to drive a long way for a fill and there 250 each. could add up fast.

I also have a 10cc band and had my first fill on 9/26 and am scheduled for my second on 11/7. My surgeon explained that they put 2cc in on surgery day and they put 3cc in at first fill for a total of five. My doctor had me do two days of liquid post fill and I believe that was a good idea; I imagine all doctors do things their own way and of course it is up to us to follow the program. I have felt restriction but definitely think I need more. I can eat more than I will be able to at sweet spot but haven’t been pushing it.

Stay the course brother we are just starting the ride of and for our lives, good luck and God speed.

BTW Jack thanks for all the great input and advice it is incredibly valuable to us new comers.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
