Well, I think I finally figured this out!! Hello there, My name is Heather. Im one week away from the big day. I've had nothing but problems with my 2 week liquid diet and just want to sit here and Cry . Ive tried the Slim Fast, Akins, advantage all of them I cannot keep down and Ive had a migrane since the second day I started. It took me long enough to get where Im at now, to just back down and quit but I'm having second thoughts now. Anyone have any advise and/or have had the same problems? Please help

Hi Heather. It's okay! I went through the same thing. I just could not do the liquid diet for two weeks. We'll my Doctor allowed me to eat at lease one meal a day. I couldn't even do that. I wanted more. My mind was telling me to eat all I can before the surgery. I think it was because I was so scared and nervous. The Monday before my surgery I was an emotional mess. I must have cried for hours. I was second guessing my decision also. I even called the surgery center and tried to cance my surgery. I told them I did not loose any weight. My plot didn't work. I said all that to say, what you're going through is normal. It's going to be okay. Get you some prayers going and trust it will be okay.

What does your surgeon say about you not sticking to the diet? I wasn't required to do a liquid diet, I was just told to not gain weight. My thoughts on the matter are that if I could do a liquid diet with no help, I wouldn't be where I am! Have you tried some other Proteins that aren't milky? Maybe add unflavored Unjury to broth. I would definitely call the doc's office and see what they think, I'm sure this happens to a lot of people. Good luck!

I agree call your surgeon. Depending, many have to follow a liquid diet post op and to me, that was harder than the preop diet. Tell your surgeon how you are feeling now, and see if your diet can be modified.

HEATHER! I HEAR YOU SISTER!!! I am getting banded Nov. 18th, I'm on the 1 shake for Breakfast, 1 shake for dinner, and 1 real meal for lunch and my ALL liquids diet begins next week, FOR TWO WEEKS. I am having SOOOO much trouble just with 2 shakes and 1 meal, I CAN'T even IMAGINE how I'm going to handle ALL liquids---I know it is going to be SUPER hard, because this right now is super hard. I'm cheating ALL the time. BUT, HEATHER, I want you to pretend we are on a soap opera and we are at a point where we are getting hysterical and someone walks into the scene, slaps us, grabs our shoulders and yells, "Get a hold of yourself, man!"

We did NOT work our way here to give up this opportunity that's only a week away for you and three weeks away for me. We need to remember that this is only temporary, after surgery the band is going to help us not overeat or eat crap that is bad for us. Stick with it girl, brace yourself and pray for daylight, because WE ARE GOING TO MAKE IT. We don't have a choice, we can't stay at this weight and continue to see our health decline. Let's sacrifice now, just don't go near any post offices with a semi-automatic. Stay with it, BANDSTERS-STICK TOGETHER, we can do it, we deserve this chance, don't give up!!!

Heather we are here for you. my surgery is nov 7th and i am right in the middle of my liquid diet. I am doing "no sugar added" carnation instant breakfast. you mix it with skim milk. it is not that bad. I also am making little ice cubes out of crystal light. that really helps when i am watching tv. gives me something to chew on... call your surgeon. and hang in there

Hi Heather!

I was just banded 2 weeks ago and I totally feel your pain.

Instead of 2 weeks on just liquids, I only did 7 full days, and my surgery went off without a hitch and I was able to lose 5 pounds. The pre-op is difficult and I often wondered how so many people can handle work in addition to house stuff prior to the surgery. I spent a lot of time reading and preparing for the surgery in addition to taking many cat naps.

You might be able to get by with 48 hours of pure liquid, but should get that ok'd by your surgeon first. I've read stories of people who proceed as scheduled with surgery, go under, only to be re-schedueled due to a fatty liver.....believe me, after going under, I would have never ever returned for a future surgery...I was so nauseus it was unbelievable.

Keep your head up, and know that you are in great company with so many of us who could barely get through the pre-op diet.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
