I was banded July 2, 2008 with the Lapband 10cc APS band. I've lost 52.5 pounds so far....I'm very happy with it!

I was banded on 6/25 with a 10cc lap band and with a total fill of 6.5cc. So far, so good. Sometimes I think I'm at my right spot, and sometimes I think a need a fill.

My doc says he doesn't like to fill to a point that people have a hard time eating .... so I'm trusting his experience.

Isn't the only difference between the realize band and the regular lap band the profile of the port?

Studies have shown no big difference between the two when it comes to losing weight. Since they both work by the same mechanism, that's expected.

I was banded with a Realize Band on March 18,2008. I have lost 55 pounds and about 30 inches total. I have had two fills: One in May (6ccs) and one in October (3ccs) for a total of 9ccs. I don't know what the comparison is but my doctor says that in the long run the weight loss from both bands average out. Getting banded was the best thing I could have done for ME! I kind of got stuck and I started exercising and the weight started coming off again. I'm using my tool (my doctor calls the lap band a tool) to the fullest and I feel great!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
