89lbs off in 3 mon. but upset, Help

Ok, first of all I know a lot of you are going to say I am spoiled and should just be happy with my weight loss, I know I am lucky to have loss so much weight so fast but, yes I am very upset at my progress this last week. I have lost around 89 lbs in three months. I hit the 86 lbs level last Saturday which put me at 300 lbs. Since then I have loss another 3 lbs this week, this is not a good week for me. I have been at the same weight since Monday. I have been working my butt off by walking over 13 miles in 3 days this week with taking a 4th day off to recover. I am eating the same, not cheating and have restriction. I am drinking lots of Water and following my diet. I am not and have not cheated. As much as I am working out, I am not sweating and my urine output is down. My Dr. took me off my dialectic Meds. Last week for my high blood pressure that has returned to normal now. So now I feel like I am retaining some water weight. I had a fill 1 ½ weeks ago and should not be hitting a plateau. Why am I working so much harder now, getting all my Protein in and not cheating and still not losing at the same pace? I have been on an emotional roller coast this week with a death in the family and a lot of depression. I have not let that affect my workouts. Can my emotions affect my weight loss? Am I just being a baby and should be happy with what I am losing so far? I feel like the guy on the show “The Biggest loser” that works he’s butt off all week and during the weigh in only see a big fast 0 on the scale. Bob is looking at me like “what the he_ _ you’re a big guy you should be pulling big numbers” and I didn’t this week. I am really having a bad week and I am sorry if I am upsetting other that has not loss this much weight. I know I should be happy with my progress but I am, just having mental problems right now Sorry!

Papa, I feel your pain. I lost 41 pound the first three months then got stuck on a plateau. Like you I did everything right, worked out, followed all the eating rules, but the scale wouldnt move. I think our bodies have to take a time out sometimes, well at least mine does. My doctor suggested changing up my exercises. I tried everything, ate less, exercised more, but no change. Funny, but when i ate a little more and exercised a little less, i started losing again. I think I had put my body into starvation mode. Hang in there, You are doing so well, there will be bumps in the road, but just keep going, we will get there.

You are doing fantastically. We all plateau, at times when you least expect it. That's the nature of the beast. We are doing all the right things so keep it up. I'm certain that your mental health is closely aligned with your physical health. That being said, sure your emotions can play a part in weight loss.

You will experience more plateaus on your weight loss journey. That's a gimme. Try to remain positive throughout, even though that's difficult at times. Make your exercise sustainable. In other words, can you do it when the weather is against you?

Just go for it and look forward to a fantastic new life.

Don't focus on the scale alone. You MUST focus on the other positive changes you've made in your life. You have lost a lot of weight in a short amount of time...and your body needs some time to adjust. As others have said...STICK TO IT!

Each day jot down all the GREAT things you are doing or make a spreadsheet with all those items listed...each day check off all the items you accomplished. This way you are putting your energy towards the positive and not the negative. The scale going down will be the "icing" on the cake.

I would also suggest that you take your measurements. Measure your chest, waist, hips, thigh, upper arm, and neck once a month. This way you have another means of charting your success.

You are doing a GREAT job!

put the scale away, and only weigh once a week at the same time of day. take measurements. your body is going through changes, and now loosing will happen, and then one week you will loose a few.

keep in mind that 1-2 pds a week is a healthy way to loose weight. I was worried about loosing too fast in the start of my band life, and now 1 pound every 2 weeks is ok. it slows down as the weeks fly past. working out is great, it will reduce the chance of surgery after a large weight loss. I will end up loosing 100 pounds and will not require surgery, as I work out 5-6 days a week with weights, and cardio.

Yup, you're being a big baby!! lol......

Seriously, you've been kicking ass!! My one recommendation (and I don't know your workout routine, so you might already be doing this) is to maybe add a little bit of strength training in with your walking. If you can add muscle, you'll pump up your metabolism and burn more calories at rest.....but don't give up on the walking, either!!! You have to find a balance between the two.

7_5_142.gifYou might want to up your calories for a couple of days. It is good to change it every couple of weeks. That way your body doesn't think it is starving. It worked for me when I plateaued. Good luck on your journey.

First, you've done amazing...just to keep to your schedule during a hard time is amazing.

I was just banded, so I'm not sure if these two pieces of advice actually work or not. But I met with a Dietician in the hospital before I was released and she told me that two things can affect my weightloss that have nothing to do with food. One, doing the same excersise routine over months...you have to change it up or you body adapts. Two, any Vitamin or mineral difficiencies can affect it.

Like Gone 4 Ever, I sometimes find that my plateaus are caused by too little calories for a few days. If I increase just a tiny bit it makes a huge difference.

One word..., PLATEAU. I have had a couple plateaus last for 3-4 WEEKS. As a lower BMI person, my weight loss has been slower, but if I go 3-4 weeks, I start to think that this might be the 'end.' BUT, I keep doing the right things and get on the scale one day and... BAM! Movement. I say this in my success story: The band is NOT a perfect fix. It is NOT an easy fix. YOU MUST WORK THE BAND. You MUST be conscious about what you eat and the exercise you get. You must have a dialogue and consistent follow-up with your doctor. YOU MUST REMAIN POSITIVE. You will plateau. Over and over. You'll go up and down. BUT, you must remind yourself that as long as you keep doing the right things, you will have success.

You WILL PLATEAU! Keep your chin up! Hugs!

      Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

      I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
      I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
