That pain in your shoulder was gas. I know I didn't get that pain until I was 5 days post op. It can be bad, but honestly walking around and moving the shoulder helped to move it for me. No medicine would ever touch it (gas or pain medicine). I am glad that you are feeling better.

Nay,

Hey, we have all been there. Mine lasted quite a bit, I would get like spasm in my diaphram, very painful. Walking is the best thing, and time. You are doing great, keep a positive attitude and walk the pain away. My Sister-In-Law was certain that she way dying after her surgery and it was - yes you got it - gas. I promise it will get better. Give it a little more time. And Slim is right, pain meds don't really do anything, walking makes you feel better, that and a good - dare I say it....... Yes I will That and a good FART! Take care sweetie. You will be fine. Debbie

thanks yall, i finally got some sleep last night, and i slept in my own bed for the 1st time...probably could have sooner, but was scared hubby would accidentally roll over and throw his arm around me out of habit. and cause horrible pain...but he left last night going to illinois to bow hunt...

this morning around 6:30 that pain hit me hard in my shoulder again, so i just got up and got on treadmill...helped...so thanks for the reassurance and advice....love, nay

Glad it's resolving. I never really had bad gas pains. Thankfully. I had enough other issues.

Hope you have a better day today.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
