lobster was one of my first true pb's, scallops too. and haddock, something about that texture that just doesn't agree with the band unless it's minced to fine tiny bits. be careful of rubbery textured foods, such as large chunks of seafood and eggs.... yikes..

i hope you're better now.. after this, i'd remain on liquids for the rest of the day at least. you may even want to call your doc...

The worst episode I ever had lasted more than an hour. It got worse and worse and worse until finally it came up and I found relief.

The longer it takes to resolve, the more irritated your esophagus might become. PLEASE take it very easy the next couple of days--stick to liquids for at least 24 hours and then mushies for another day. You will need to rest after this. My sympathies!

Glad to hear you're feeling better! You know, it doesn't take much to create this problem. Often it's nothing you would ever believe could get stuck. My worst episode was after eating some seaweed salad, and when it finally came back it was the smallest shrivel of green I'd ever seen! Probably it's not so much how it gets stuck, but where, in cases like this.

Hi Sheri...

Just read you post... I had my first PB yesterday in the middle of my Forth of July Party... I was so busy running around and hadn't eaten anything all day... I popped a piece of Garlic Knot in my mouth and boom... stuck... stuck ... stuck!!!!

I pb'd 4 times before it dislodged ....

It took almost an hour before I felt better... I never want to do that AGAIN!!!! EVER!!!!!

I am glad you are okay... how was your barbaque???

Take care

Kathy

Some people can not do the Water trick- It just makes it worse- (in my case) I can't drink with any or my meals including soup! Make sure if it happens again you try small small small sips- because it might make the pain worse.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
