Am I not eating enough?

Today I had a Canartion Instant for Breakfast...some apple juice...and a my first soft food! (Yay!) Some cottage doubles! (I got full about half way through) . I just did my daily plate and I have around 500 calories, 4 grams of fat and 25 grams of Protein. The only thing I know my surgeon said I must meet is minimum of 60 grams of protein. I'm not very hungry, but guessing I should maybe mix some plain whey with Water or juice to make sure I get my protein. Any tips guys? Did you have trouble getting your protein in the beginning? Thanks!

Apart from the Protein you be taking in a minimum of 1200 calories. If you go below that for any period of time (which you would have while on the pre-op plan) your body will go into starvation mode. Meaning that your body will start to hold on to every calorie to take in. So you will need to increase it. Even if it means drinking 3 instant breakfasts with a scoops of Protein Powder in every day for awhile. If you dont get enough protein, then could put yourself at risk for Hair loss and brittle nails.

For many, its nigh on impossible in the post surgical period to get in enough calories and nutrients.

You wont starve or get ill or deficient in the few weeks it will take for you to heal and get your calories up there. Relax, and dont worry about it. Your body has plenty of reserves. Eat what you can fit it, eat healthy but there's NO point in eating more than you want to.

Focus on getting your base nutrients. The quantity of food you eat at this point doesn't matter.

Not true. Not everyone has to consume 1200 calories. Many docs do not want their patients eating that many calories, my doc said not to go over 800 in a day. I'd venture a guess that most surgeons want under 1000 calories a day.

This starvation mode... it's a myth. It came from the 70s and it's simply not true. I kept calories at 600 throughout my whole weight loss journey and unlike those who consume more calories I never had a stall of any kind. I lost weight until I increased calories.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
