What the heck have i done

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys - I now have my Surgery Date 11/19/08 things looking great right.

OK now I am little worried what have I done?

Anyway will be joining this elite Men’s Club soon (Men’s Room Right)

Was also kind of wondering if many Men will be doing this with me here at the end of the year?

I have only three appointments left before being scheduled all next week. Two with cardiologist and one with pulmanologist. Today they said it would be late November. With my luck it will be Thanksgiving Day. I don't care I just want to get started.

So Old Goat you may have company.

I prefer thinking of myself as a "middle aged goat"

Hi xtightend - Know just what you mean. When guy’s make up their mind it’s let’s do it now. I have had to work on this quit awhile now. How about yourself? My group suggested it would be best if I could loose about 3% of my body weight before Surgery how about you?

Hey Goat. Welcome.

I think most of us ask "what have I done" at one point or another. My first words in the recovery room after surgery were, "Oh sh*t, I can't get out of this now." But now seven weeks out I know that it was the best decision I could have made and have no regrets. Hopefully you'll have the same results.

Good luck!

Bryan

Goat:

You're making the right decision. It's the best way medical science has come up with to get weight off and keep it off short of slicing up your stomach and intestines. Recovery time is short - I had it done on a Thursday was at work the following Monday.

Keep jumping through the hoops. It's worth it in the end. Look at the success all of these guys have had. I've started the journey and I'm not looking back.

Good Luck!!

Hang in there, brother.

Yup. There are doubts going into it, and for a week or so after I had regrets.

But it is a great tool to help you lose weight, and has enough challenge to make you know when all is said and done that you had accomplished something. (I don't want something to do it for me, just the tool to help me).

Glad you're here, and know you're not alone.

I think we wondered what we were getting in to at some point, especially immediately after surgery with all the gas pains.

Anyway, seven weeks later, down 32 pounds and now exercising again I have to say...I was the best decision I ever made. Even on what I call a bad day (a day in which I eat more then what I should or not the healthiest choice in foods) I cannot eat as much as I use to before.

I had a moment of "WTFHID" last week when I went for my first fill and after the doc had done an "exam" he told me that he could not do the fill because he works in the public system. (I am in Canada and had the surgery in Mex.) Needles to say I had a few hours of regret and panic about being abandoned. I have since found a doc, I am seeing him tonight and hopefully it will be a better outcome than last week.

Exam = had me take my shirt off and looked at the scars and felt for the port, in short he checked out the other docs work.

Good morning men, I definitely had the “WTFHID” emotion right before and after surgery but have absolutely no regrets. I only wish I had made this decision earlier. This is the tool we all need to get to a much better a healthier life. Good luck and God speed you are moving in the right direction!

Old goat,

They haven't said I have to lose any weight pre-surgery but I am sure it wouldn't hurt. I find myself saying "I better eat all this pizza cause I won't be able to later"

I better watch it or I will need to get TWO bands. Maybe if they just put a band around my so my mouth wouldn't open wide.....:Dancing_biggrin:

HI 2big4u was looking at your photo? Got a Brother-in-law lives just north of Calgary don’t recall a place like that but let me know where might just come up and get on some of that free Med’s. Good luck on your Docs visit tonight keep in touch.

Xtightend – I was not told to loose weight before Surgery. It was just suggest it would help both by some new bandsters at my first seminar, my Psychologist and Dietitian.

My Doctor only requires a two-day liquid diet before the operation so I just felt it would be best for me to get a head start. I pretty much put myself on a low carb. No Snacks and one eat out REALLY EAT meal a week. Its all about shrinking the liver what kind of a Preop diet will you be on?

Only 3 of 15 (I think..I lost count) pre-op appointments left to do! I am glad they are being careful but sometimes I think they do this just to make sure you are committed. Next week I should get a surg date in Nov sometime. After all these appointments are done I am going to feel like I have sooo much free time!

I have actually lost a few pounds in all of this. Mostly because I am too busy going to appointments to eat.:grouphug:

Before surgery I was on the Optifast liquid diet for two weeks. Awful stuff that did all kinds of weird things to my bowels. But I lost 19 pounds in those two weeks.

I have to say that my opinion of all the pre-op requirements has changed since I've had my surgery. My insurance company required a six month structured program to get ready for surgery. I was at first really annoyed by it and thought it was a waste of time. But I have to say that looking back it really did help me to make sure I was ready to make all of the changes that I had to make so that the band could work for me. So for me it was worth it. I hope it is for all of you as well.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
