Hi all,

I am just starting the process. I had my info session 9/23 and submitted my paper work in the beg of Ocotber. My surgeon consult is Nov. 3rd. What should I expect??

Does it sound like I could have my surgery Jan or Feb of 2009. I have UHC a BMI of 46 and 2 co-morbidities.

I have been reading the forum for awhile now then decided to go ahead and jump in for support after I had a med fry and double cheeseburger from McD's for lunch. I keep beating myself up becuase I just can't stay away from food. Any advice what should I do?

I'm sure a lot of us have/had the same food issue(s). As a matter of fact, I went home full from work yesterday and proceeded to eat half a sleeve of Oreos with milk, then had Burger King for dinner. I just can't stop. I don't think I even want to eat this stuff. I've read that people who are addicted to food have the same chemical reaction (dopamine release?) in their brains as people who are addicted to drugs. It makes sense, right?

You can do it, and so can I!!!

Camp3, i would think you could have the surgery sooner than that if you want. i am also on UHC and time from first inquiry to approval was less than 3 wk, and I only had a BMI <36 with arthritis and hypertension. Good luck!

Those oreo will do it every time. Wow, it's great to know I'm not alone. I really beat myself up over it. It's is really hard to just quit overeating. I'm sure the weekend is a wash hopefully Monday will be the start to a better week. Where are you in the lap band process?

Wow that's quick. I know you were happy. When is your surgery date? Sounds like UHC was pretty cooperative. Gives me hope. I don't want to get too excited. I don't have my 1st consult until Nov. Then the appts and then submit for insurance. I'm really hoping Jan new year new me..

Hey,

Congrats on getting the process started... it can take awhile but dont lose heart! Where there is a will there is a way.

Dont beat yourself up, take one day at a time and remember we didnt get this way overnight, it takes time and patience. Hang in there and remember you are not alone!

Cali :smile2:

Well, at least I can say I'm not addicted to heroin...just cake. :tongue_smilie:

I'm just starting on all my appointments. Haven't even met with the surgeon yet. I'm approaching the process confident that I KNOW I'm a good candidate for this surgery and that I WILL be approved.

Good luck on your meeting in November!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
