Getting Really Nervous

Recommended Posts

It hit me last night...surgery is less than two days away. I hadn't been thinking about it since I was on a cruise at my niece's wedding (which was very beautiful, except that I gained weight ).

But now the nerves are setting in. Am I making the right decision? What if something goes wrong? What if it all goes right, but I don't lose weight?

I know this is the best decision I've made for me, but it is still nerve wracking!

Oh, I really do hope that you begin to relax at least a little; I don't think that what you are feeling is uncommon at all. We have all wanted this for so very long and when it finally comes up, we are are FULL of a wide variety of emotions.

I saw my cousin this Saturday night, she has lapband 4 years ago (and there was another lady at the party who didn't know who had it). They looked absolutely amazing!!! I actually had to ask someone else first, to make sure that was my cousin, before I approached her! She said she's never looked back and that she's had no problems what so ever. Her confidence level was already a 10 before surgery and now, I could swear it's at a 15!!

I believe you will be just fine. I do.

Bless you

i am also getting very nervous. my doctor wants to schedule me in the next two weeks. it is getting very real. insurance will not pay, so i will be footing the bill.

i have been reading here for about a month and have really gained some great and useful knowledge.

i just read everything and soak it in. don't know if you have gone through the entire forum, but it really helped me. at least for awhile, then i get nervous again....start reading again. great help.

I know that it is easy to say but try not to be so nervous. I am one week out and really all i have had to deal with is some soreness where my port is but that is it. I am still getting used to trying to figure out if i am full or not but hopefully that comes with practice. This is a big step but you are taking it for all the right reasons and if you do what the doctor says you will be successful. just focus on the new you and how much better you will feel!

Good luck!

My surgery is 2 weeks away the nerves haven't hit me yet, not really. But I know they will, especially the day before when we leave for Denver. I hope you feel more comfortable as the day draws closer.

Ask yourself what you would do if you were told that you couldn't have surgery. I would be mad then diappointed. I am tired of living my life like I have been. That might help you to know you are make the right choice for you.

Good luck! (group hug!)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
