Threads by Guy Banders?

Recommended Posts

Good evening all,

This my second post. I am one day post-op and doing remarkably well. I am retired military and had my procedure done @Wilford Hall Medical Center (Largest Air Force Hospital located in San Antonio, TX a.k.a MilitaryCity, USA). I have surfed this website most of the day and everyone is very supportive. I have found a tremendous amount of valuable information so far. The ladies are great but I haven't seen very many male banders yet. Since guy's & gals are designed a little differently, I am wondering if their are any "guy" only threads that address the guy problrms/questions? Thank you.

Just wanted to welcome you, Trench123. I'm a female resident of San Antonio; a Texas native and married to a retired Army man...I'm a nursing student at UTHSCSA and my husband was a nurse. You got good care at Wilford Hall! If you need any help that can come from a rational female perspective (LOL that Is NOT an oxymoron) I'll be glad to help!

Good Luck Steve!

Nothing against the ladies but I do wish there was a guys only section.

My doctor just submitted my docs to the insurance company yesterday. I have UHC in GA and will be anxiously awaiting their "approved" response. I'm 52 and have struggled with my weight my entire life. I'm so ready to do this!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
