Hi Guys,

I'm Mallory, a 20 yr old originally from Houston, Tx, but now I'm in Norman Ok.

I got my lap band on June 16th, 08 and it was going great until I moved to come back to school. I lost 20 lbs in the first month, but I'm struggling. I feel like I'm failing at this, too and this surgery has been a last resort for me. I don't know what to do because I haven't lost any weight since August.

I feel like I'm not in control of the situation, and I'm getting to the point where I'm beating myself up over it, which definitely isn't helping.

I need some help, ideas, support - something. I just want to make this work, and obviously trying to do it alone isn't the answer.

-mal

Hi there!

I am pretty new to this since I was recently banded, but I have "the rules" fresh in my head, so maybe I can help you.

As far as your weight loss stall, have you had a fill at all? If so, how many CC's and how much food are you able to eat? What my doctor wants from me once I start to have fills is to be able to eat 4 ounces of food and be comfortable for 3-4 hours, are you able to do this? Also, do you work out? If you do, maybe it is time to change up your exercises. They say that you should change it up every 8 weeks, so you keep burning as many calories as possible.

Hopefully this helps you in some way, let me know how it goes. :)

Any luck yet Mallory? We are here to help. Writing things down always helps me! Hopefuly you have time to adjust your diet back to what your surgeon wanted, and...now that you've completely healed, you can get very serious about exercise. The hardest part is starting it again, but once you get started, it won't be that scary! Just look how well you did in the beginning, and try and think of how you are selling yourself short and what you need to adjust now to get back on the wagon.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
