Recommended Posts

Okay so the other day my husband took the car with the baby's seat in it and I wanted to go to the store...I pack up the stroller and get my son ready and off we go...the store is 1.8 miles from our apartment and it is very very very hilly. I get down the first hill and half way up the second one when I stop and say "What the heck was I thinking?!" No stopping now though...I'll just walk to the store get what I need and wait for my husband to call and say he's on his way home. He can come get me...I finally make it to the store about an hour later. I then walk around the store for an hour and then sit and rehydrate for 20 minutes. I'm bored now...okay I made it here I'll just go back home. this time it only took me 45 minutes...while I'm out I think I'll just go get the mail...almost 4 miles later I arrive home with a huge blister on my pinky toe OUCH!!! lol The surprising things is...I wasn't sore the next day...or the next...I never got sore. That was a huge walk for me...WOW...I think next time I'll just walk around the block...lol, but I went from a size 24 to a size 18 (tight) since my surgery!!! YEAHYA!!!!!! :)

Great atitude!! The biggest mountains are just a bunch of little hills stacked on top of each other.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
