Why NOW after 10 months??????

Recommended Posts

the first 10 months of my lap band odyssey have been so easy. I had my fills, lost the weight, no problems or issues...... I did have gallbladder surgery the 1st of August and had a complete unfill. I had 5.5 CCs up to that point, and had to start over. I had 1 CC put in on September 17th to get me back to 5 CC. So I'm still not quite where I was. I was doing great. I went on a retreat weekend on Sept. 25 to the 28th. I did fine. I overate a little, and was uncomfortable, but no issues. Up to this point I had experienced a PB only twice in 10 months. Well, starting Monday the 30th (a week ago today) I have PBd 8 times!!! what is up with that? This long after my last fill? I'm supposed to go on Friday to get another one, but certainly don't need it now. why after all this time, am I having trouble with this now? I don't understand it? Why the delayed reaction? Comments?

I was also smooth sailing from January until September and then started having pb problems, had to get an unfill. I am not filled less than what I was from April through September and I am much too tight where it was perfect before.

I am not sure why things change . . . the band is definitely a little fickle. It is so hard to find that elusive "sweet spot" again once you lose it. I did ask my doctor and I was told that after an unfill, your band can shift slightly in relation to your stomach which causes you to be either more or less restricted at the same Fluid level.

You are not the only one, that is for sure. I am .5 cc less than my long term sweet spot and I will be getting another small unfill October 14th so I can eat Proteins again.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
