Impatient Newbie here

Recommended Posts

I was about 85% convinced to have the surgery before the summer started and then I read about 6-7 different trials on how much the surgery improves diabetes and I was convinced. I didn't get into the August seminar, but attended the September one. I have had all of the heart tests, stomach tests, and sleep studies done in the last 2 years, so I am ready to go.

I have to wait until November 20th for my initial consultation. I am so impatient, I'd just as soon have it done tomorrow. Secondly, when we get into the new year, my co-pays and deductibles apply anew. So, I will have to come up with about a grand ( I think ) to have it done.

I live in Northern Michigan and what the hold-up is we have so many Canadians coming down (driving 5-8 hours ). They have to wait 10 years to have it done in Canada.

So all you folks who want socailized medicine..think about that.

Anyways, am glad this group is here. It seems to be the most comprehensive I have found on the web.:)

Hi Don, and welcome to LBT. Once you get past the initial consult, the process usually moves pretty quickly. Do you know if your insurance requires any type of supervised diet prior to giving approval for the band?

Take a look around the forums and let us know if you have any questions, we are happy to help.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
