I did ask the dr. today, and he said that it was fine, for some reason they are not concerned with me at all. He said what ever you eat will be digested...what ever that means!!! But he said that i could eat what i wanted...my main problem is not eating enough..and when i do, it seems to be the wrong things...so...we are all good to go. I would like to thank those who repsonded!!!!

Good for you asking him (taking the high road!) And I'm glad he gave you the green light too. I'd guess (just a guess here..don't know for sure) that he means you're eating far enough preop that you won't have undigested food in your system when he does surgery (that's quite risky!) So enjoy your meal.

From everything that my doctor told me, its not about cheating, its about making sure that your band heals into place and you dont do anything that you might threaten that with. If you eat something and your busy chatting away and socializing you might not chew it enough. if you gag or throw up it isnt going to be worth it. there are lots of ways to socialize without threatening everything you have worked for. My advice is dont risk it.

You are right RayeP...but she is PRE op and hasn't been banded yet. Once she has the band your advice will surely apply! :crying:

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
